To ask the Scottish Government whether it has considered the future location of the Registrar of Independent Schools following the decision to refocus Education Scotland.
Answer
Education Scotland is being refocussed to lead curriculum review and improvement. To support this, the Scottish Government has taken the decision to relocate the Registrar of Independent Schools from Education Scotland to the Scottish Government.
We have considered a range of options in coming to this decision, which also aligns with Professor Muir’s recommendation in his review of the national landscape. As well as supporting the refocusing of Education Scotland, it will ensure continued close working between the Scottish Government and the General Teaching Council for Scotland.

To ask the Scottish Government, further to the answer to question S6W-10461 by Humza Yousaf on 20 September 2022, whether it will provide an update on the support it is giving to the development of the VLA15 vaccine for Lyme disease.
Answer
As noted in the response to S6W-10461, Scottish Enterprise has provided support to the Valneva facility in Livingston although the Lyme disease vaccine candidate VLA15 is not directly supported by Scottish funding.
The introduction of any new national vaccine programme in Scotland is based on the independent expert advice of the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI). If VLA15, were to be authorised for use in the UK by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) and recommended for use by the JCVI, then the Scottish Government would consider the introduction of any such programme.

To ask the Scottish Government what contracts have been awarded in the development of the NHS Scotland app.
Answer
Delivery responsibility for the online app for health and social care sits with NHS Education for Scotland (NES), who have been commissioned by the Scottish Government to lead on the overall Digital Front Door Programme. To date, NES have awarded two contracts to the global technology and software engineering consultancy firm BJSS. The first contract, which has now ended, was to assist on the development of the Outline Business Case. The second, which has just been signed, is to assist in the technical development work required for December’s launch of the initial version of online app, as well as further technical work as required for the subsequent roll out from 2026.

To ask the Scottish Government, further to the answer to question S6W-25968 by Jenni Minto on 18 March 2024, whether it still anticipates that the Primary Care Data and Intelligence platform will be delivered by March 2026, and whether it will include data on the number of people in Scotland with myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS).

NHS National Services Scotland is working to deliver a Primary Care Data and Intelligence platform to unlock the value of primary care data.
The programme is focusing on delivering milestones to complete a technology refresh. The platform will deliver by March 2026, unlocking the value of data from general practice, including prevalence data on neurological conditions.

To ask the Scottish Government how much funding has been allocated to (a) modernise and (b) expand the general practice estate in each year since 2016.
Answer
While the Scottish Government has directly funded some primary care capital projects, Health Boards have their own capital allocations and there is no central record of whether funding has been spent on “modernising” or “expanding” the general practice estate.

To ask the Scottish Government whether it conducts any assessments of the condition of general practice (a) buildings and (b) facilities, and, if so, whether it can provide details of those assessments.
Answer
Most GP contractors are responsible for providing their own buildings and facilities. Health Boards are responsible for determining whether contractors are adequately fulfilling their contracts and ensuring the good condition of buildings and facilities directly provided.

To ask the Scottish Government whether it will provide an update on any progress towards a national smart ticketing scheme for public transport.
Answer
The National Smart Ticketing Advisory Board will publish its first annual report in June, including progress on its year one 'Quick Wins'. This includes, for the first time, provision of digital integrated tickets for the Aberdeenshire and Dundee bus to bus schemes, due to launch this summer.
Consideration of a digital platform for our biggest national scheme, free bus travel, is also underway, with the intention of a pilot scheme in 2026, unlocking the use of mobile devices for concessionary travel. This aligns with the milestones as set out in our Smart Delivery Strategy in August 2024.

To ask the Scottish Government how it is working with the NHS and local authorities to support disabled people and carers in the North East Scotland region.
Answer
The Scottish Government is committed to supporting disabled people and carers across Scotland.
This is demonstrated by our record investment of £21.7 billion in health and social care in 2025-26 which includes almost £2.2 billion for social care and integration and £88.4m per year in local carer support through the local authority Carers Act funding.
We will continue to work with Health and Social Care Partnerships, local authorities, and other partners across North East Scotland in the delivery of the NHS Renewal Framework, social care reform and Disability Equality Plan to drive improvements in support for disabled people and carers.
