That the Parliament congratulates Inaya Uddin, of Coatbridge and Chryston, on winning the Young Coach of the Year award at the sportscotland’s Scottish Sports Awards 2025, which were held on 15 December 2025 at Glasgow’s Old Fruitmarket; recognises Inaya’s outstanding contribution to grassroots sport through her volunteering and coaching with Active Life Club over the last six years, during which she has progressed from a youth volunteer to a qualified football coach; commends her commitment to delivering inclusive, person-centered coaching that supports young people to develop not only sporting skills but also confidence, resilience and a sense of belonging; acknowledges the importance of her role as a positive role model for young women, particularly those from minority ethnic and underrepresented backgrounds, and the impact this has had in encouraging greater participation in football; notes her dedication to continuous professional development while balancing university studies and family commitments, and wishes Inaya every success as she continues to inspire others and contribute to a more inclusive future for sport in Scotland.

That the Parliament condemns the reported conviction of the British citizen and pro-democracy publisher, Jimmy Lai, under Hong Kong’s national security and sedition laws; understands with grave concern that Mr Lai now faces the prospect of life imprisonment, following a trial widely criticised by international human rights and press freedom organisations and described as politically motivated; considers that the case represents a serious erosion of press freedom, judicial independence and the rights guaranteed under the Sino-British Joint Declaration; expresses solidarity with Mr Lai, his family and journalists and pro-democracy advocates in Hong Kong; considers that the prosecution forms part of a broader campaign by the Chinese Communist Party to suppress dissent and independent media in Hong Kong, and calls on the UK Government to intensify diplomatic efforts to secure Mr Lai’s immediate release and to continue to defend freedom of expression, the rule of law and human rights in Hong Kong and internationally.

That the Parliament congratulates Sasco Art, which is a newly opened art shop on West Princes Street in Helensburgh, on winning the town’s Best Dressed Christmas Window competition, which was organised by Helensburgh Winter Festival, with an impressive 663 public votes; applauds the creativity and dedication of owner, Stuart Scott, who opened the shop on 20 November 2025 after 13 months of restoring the premises to reveal its original features; commends the business for bringing festive cheer and artistic flair to the community; recognises Top to Toe Salon, which claimed second place with 619 votes, and Alzheimer Scotland, which came third with 200, and wishes all participating businesses continued success in promoting Helensburgh’s vibrant town centre and festive spirit.

That the Parliament congratulates Andy Brown, from Glasgow, on being named Athlete of the Year at the sportscotland’s Scottish Sports Awards 2025, which were held at the Old Fruitmarket in Glasgow; notes that Andy, who is an international windsurfer and a member of the British Sailing Team, achieved a landmark victory by winning Gold at the iQFOiL World Championships in July 2025, iQFOiL being the current Olympic windsurfing discipline; acknowledges his silver medal at the European Championships in late 2024, demonstrating remarkable consistency and excellence; commends Andy’s resilience in overcoming challenges, including his return to the British Sailing Team after a period of deselection, and his dedication to grassroots development through his role as RYA Scotland’s head iQFOiL coach and active support for the Scottish Fin & Foil Association; recognises his efforts to raise the profile of windsurfing in Scotland and inspire the next generation of athletes, and wishes him every success as he prepares to defend his World Championship title and work towards the LA 2028 Olympic Games.

That the Parliament understands that the process towards a lasting peace across Turkey is developing through disarmament and political transition by the Kurdish PKK movement, which, in March 2025, declared a ceasefire, and through the announcement in the Turkish Parliament of the formation of a dedicated parliamentary commission to oversee disarmament and political transition, and believes that there are expectations of wider constitutional reforms in Turkey, accommodating wider Kurdish linguistic, cultural and governance rights.

That the Parliament congratulates Annalise Clark, from Stirling, on her success at the Engineering Construction Industry (ECI) Training and Development Awards; understands that these awards, held in London, recognise the best engineering and construction talent across Great Britain; understands that Annalise won the ECITB New Entrant Award; notes that she completed the Work Ready Programme at Forth Valley College; further notes that this programme was the first to run in Scotland; understands that the award recognised Annalise’s progress and talent across the programme; congratulates her for this excellent achievement, and wishes her the very best for her career.

That the Parliament congratulates Mortlach Memorial Hall, in Dufftown, which has been successful in receiving a grant of £20,000 from Asda Elgin; notes that the hall serves as a central hub for the community, hosting a wide range of events, user groups and the local Post Office; understands that the grant was received through the Local Community Spaces Fund, which helps small, grassroots organisations play a vital role in improving people's lives every day, and acknowledges the Asda Foundation and its continued investment in community spaces across the UK.

That the Parliament congratulates Colpi Ice Cream, in Milngavie, on being awarded a Highly Recommended for Scotland’s Best Gelateria at the annual Scottish Italian Awards; understands that Colpi’s has been making its ice cream on-site in its Milngavie shop since the business first opened in 1928, and congratulates the entire team at Colpi’s on being recognised for their hard work and dedication as they continue to provide the people of Milngavie and beyond with world class ice cream.

That the Parliament notes the award of £1.275 million to local projects by the Nature Restoration Fund; understands that the Scottish Government's  Nature Restoration Fund is distributed to local communities, projects and charities by the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park; further understands that the fund focuses on measures to restore nature, build community resilience and boost biodiversity; commends the excellent work already being done locally; acknowledges the vital support that this fund will provide, and notes that the fund has made a significant impact since its inception in 2022 and benefits projects of all sizes, from tenant farmers to large conservation charities.

That the Parliament recognises and commends the kindness and generosity of The Funky Natz Foundation, The Food Warehouse at Caledonian Retail Park, Angie Cheney, St Patrick’s Church, Motherwell North and Craigneuk Parish Church and Wishaw Credit Union for their donations to the Craigneuk Lifelong Learning Centre during the festive period; notes that the centre operates a community larder and delivers a wide range of year-round initiatives to support individuals and families across Wishaw and Craigneuk; acknowledges that many people continue to face financial hardship as a result of the ongoing cost of living crisis; recognises the positive impact of these donations in providing practical support, dignity and warmth at a particularly challenging time of year, and thanks all those involved for their compassion, community spirit and ongoing commitment to supporting those most in need and the wider community.
