That the Parliament understands that Sauchie Resource Centre, on Mar Place, Sauchie will be transformed into Santa’s Grotto for the 2025 Festive Season; understands that, organised by Sauchie Community Group, this free community event on 7 December 2025 will give families the chance to meet Santa Claus and enjoy some arts and crafts with Mrs Claus, understands that, while this free community event is perfect for families, there will be optional donations supporting Children’s Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS); notes that the event can be booked via Eventbrite with slots still available; commends Sauchie Community Group on its excellent work, and wishes everyone involved all the very best for the event’s success.

That the Parliament congratulates RNLI Stromness on building a Christmas creel tree to honour and appreciate all those who have worked or are currently working at sea; understands that the Christmas tree, which was lit on 26 November 2025 during a ceremony organised by the Stromness Community Council, is decorated with "buoybles" that have been sponsored by members of the public and are dedicated to local individuals, past and present, with a connection to the sea or who served on the lifeboat; thanks local electrician business, RS Merriman, for donating and rigging up the lights; notes that creel fishing, which is an environmentally sustainable practice that involves placing baited pots on the seabed to catch bottom-crawling shellfish, is the most popular fishing method in Orkney; believes that this is an appropriately festive way to raise funds and awareness for the lifesaving work that the RNLI carries out in Orkney and around the coast of Scotland and the UK; thanks the crew of RNLI Stromness and the other RNLI crews in Orkney for the vital work that they do to keep people and our communities safe, and wishes them all the best for a happy and healthy holiday season.

That the Parliament welcomes the news that ALC Aberdeen, which is based in Tillydrone, has received two sizeable donations to enable it to upgrade outdoor play areas and secure year-round holiday club provision; notes that the first donation was a combined contribution of £11,500 from the Lord Provost's Charitable Trust, TAQA UK and the Trades Widows' Fund Charity, which has funded an upgraded outdoor play area at Aberdeen's Little Learners Nursery, which is based at the Tillydrone Community Campus; further notes that the second donation of £22,500, from Apache Corporation's North Sea workforce, will allow the continuation of ALC's holiday clubs throughout the summer, October and Easter breaks, providing a safe, fun environment for around 30 children and young people aged 15 to 25, reducing social isolation and offering consistent access to healthy meals and supportive routines; believes that these investments will strengthen the charity's commitment to creating opportunities and safe spaces for families in the Tillydrone area, and wishes everyone at TLC Aberdeen all the very best with their future endeavours.

That the Parliament congratulates The Village Fish Bar in Neilston on its inclusion in the finals of the 2025 Scottish Italian Awards, in the category, Scotland’s Best Fish and Chips; understands that, in addition to being a finalist, the establishment has been given what is sees as a prestigious Highly Recommended endorsement by the Italian Awards; notes that The Village Fish Bar is a staple of the community in Neilston and has consistently provided fantastic service and quality to its customers; celebrates that this family run business is receiving national recognition for its food, and wishes it continued success in serving the community of Neilston in the future.

That the Health, Social Care and Sport Committee recommends that the Hydrolysis (Scotland) (No. 1) Regulations 2026 [draft] be approved.

That the Parliament congratulates Quintiliani’s Fish and Chips on winning best Fish and Chips in Scotland at the Scottish Italian Awards, which were held on 30 November 2025; further congratulates the efforts of staff at Quintiliani’s, who worked to produce a product that celebrates the best of Scottish and Italian cuisines; recognises the importance of Italy’s rich culinary tradition in the establishment of the Italian diaspora in Scotland; understands the importance of family-owned restaurants and take-aways to Scotland’s high streets, and celebrates the success of the hospitality sector in Larkhall.

That the Parliament congratulates Include Me 2 Club on being awarded the Health and Social Care Award at the 2025 Social Enterprise Scotland Awards; notes that the award recognises the charity’s impact in creating inclusive and life-changing opportunities for children, young people and adults with additional support needs, disabilities and mental health conditions; recognises that this is a landmark moment in the charity’s 16-year history, and wishes Include Me 2 Club well in all its future work.

That the Parliament understands that Kadir’s Fish and Chips, a takeaway in Barrhead, has been recognised as one of the best establishments in Scotland for fish, chips and pizza; notes that the business was nominated for three awards, including Scotland’s Best Fish and Chips, Best Pizza and Best Team at the Scottish Italian Awards 2025; further notes that at the 2025 Scottish Fish and Chips Awards, Kadir’s was nominated as a finalist in the Best Pizza, Best Fish Supper in the West and Best Fish Fryer categories; celebrates that the business was awarded Highly Recommended status at the Scottish Italian Awards; congratulates owner Kadir Turbun and all his team on being recognised for their food and service on the national stage, and notes that Kadir’s Fish and Chips is a fantastic local business that is situated on Barrhead Main Street and serves the people of Barrhead and the surrounding areas delicious food.

That the Parliament congratulates a nurse from Alloa, Elaine Blackwood, who, with friends, has helped to raise more than £20,000 for hospice care after cycling from London to Paris; acknowledges that Elaine, who is an advanced nurse practitioner at Whins Medical Practice, was one of four friends who completed the 309-mile ride in memory of loved ones, raising £21,000 for Strathcarron Hospice; notes that she took on the challenge alongside her brother, Paul Valentine, and friends, Lorna Muirhead and Jamie McWilliam; notes that Lorna and Elaine were inspired to take on the challenge to mark their 50th birthdays after completing the Sahara Desert Trek together for Strathcarron in November 2023, also in memory of loved ones; understands that the cycling challenge took the group from London to Calais and through the French countryside, arriving in Paris at the Eiffel Tower, with Elaine describing the journey as "one of the hardest things" she has ever done, but said that it "was filled with laughter and unforgettable moments"; notes that Lorna was moved to raise funds after losing her father, Hamish Mullen, to a brain tumour in 2008 at the age of 61; sends its sincere condolences to Lorna, and commends Elaine, Lorna, Paul and Jamie, and everyone else involved, on their highly magnanimous endeavours.
