Parliamentary business takes place throughout the year, with periods of recess (breaks). During recess, there are normally no meetings of the Parliament and no committee meetings.

What are the powers of the Scottish Parliament?
The Scottish Parliament at Holyrood can pass laws on matters devolved to Scotland.

Running the building
The SPCB employ around 600 staff who support the work of the Parliament and its Members. Staff are committed to running a building that is accessible, environmentally friendly and welcoming to all.
