Questions and answers

Parliamentary questions can be asked by any MSP to the Scottish Government or the Scottish Parliamentary Corporate Body. The questions provide a means for MSPs to get factual and statistical information.

  • Written questions must be answered within 10 working days (20 working days during recess)
  • Other questions such as Topical, Portfolio, General and First Minister's Question Times are taken in the Chamber

To ask the Scottish Government what its position is regarding whether an exemption from Air Departure Tax for lifeline services would be compatible with the UK Subsidy Control Act 2022, or if amending the Act would have to be a prerequisite to resolving the issue reportedly currently preventing the replacement of Air Passenger Duty with Air Departure Tax.

To ask the Scottish Government, in light of the agreement by the UK Minister for Energy, during a debate at Westminster Hall led by John Lamont MP on 21 October 2025, to meet with residents in the Scottish Borders regarding their concerns about energy infrastructure, whether the Cabinet Secretary for Climate Action and Energy will meet the Community Council Convention of the Highland Council area to listen to similar concerns that they have raised.

To ask the Scottish Government what assessment it has made of any impact of poverty on pupils, in light of the NASUWT’s October 2025 survey findings that 89% of teachers who were surveyed said that pupil behaviour has worsened over the last year and 76% said more pupils are lacking in energy and concentration.
