Questions and answers

Parliamentary questions can be asked by any MSP to the Scottish Government or the Scottish Parliamentary Corporate Body. The questions provide a means for MSPs to get factual and statistical information.

  • Written questions must be answered within 10 working days (20 working days during recess)
  • Other questions such as Topical, Portfolio, General and First Minister's Question Times are taken in the Chamber

To ask the Scottish Government, in light of the outcome of the 2022 review, Stop, Sort, Burn, Bury - incineration in the waste hierarchy, what its position is regarding the 12 incinerators that were approved, or were in the process of construction, prior to the decision to stop all new applications for incinerators; by what date a decision will be announced regarding the proposed capacity cap on incineration, and whether it will ask the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) to pause all new permits on incineration while the indicative cap is being developed.

To ask the Scottish Government whether it will request that the Scottish National Investment Bank develop products to address any gap in private finance available in Scotland, to support a “globally successful, innovative and sustainable shipbuilding industry, particularly focussing on the construction of high value, low carbon, complex vessels”, in light of the UK Government’s refreshed National Shipbuilding Strategy, which was published in March 2022.
