That the Parliament welcomes news of the recent visit by Nova Scotian officials and industry figures to view the opportunities that tidal stream energy has created in Orkney; commends Orbital Marine Power for its efforts to arrange the visit to showcase its world-leading tidal stream technology, including its O2 turbine, which is the most powerful in the world; recognises what it sees as the important role that tidal stream can play in Scotland’s energy transition by providing a reliable source of clean power; celebrates the interest shown by Nova Scotia in Scotland’s growing renewables industry; understands that the visit was an opportunity for visitors from Nova Scotia to learn more about the development and deployment of renewable energy projects in Orkney; encourages further collaboration between Scotland and Nova Scotia, and believes that the Scottish Government should support the growth of Scotland’s tidal stream sector, specifically by providing clear policy guidance supporting the development of tidal stream energy, helping Scottish developers to innovate, grow and export this technology across the globe.
