That the Parliament notes the recent celebrations in the Queen’s Hotel in Bowhill to mark the 80th birthday of Alex Burns MBE; believes that this noted resident of Cardenden has contributed immensely to the local community, including serving as chairman of the local community council, and recalls, in particular, the role played by Mr Burns in founding a children’s football tournament, which ran for 40 years in the Cardenden and Kinglassie area in honour of John Thomson, the Celtic goalkeeper, who died tragically at the age of 21 as a result of injuries sustained in a Rangers v Celtic match at Ibrox in 1931.
