To ask the Scottish Government what estimate it has made of the number of emergency bed days that have been allocated to patients as a result of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in each year since 2018, broken down by NHS board.

The total number of bed days recorded for patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) with an emergency admission during their continuous inpatient stay (CIS) by NHS Board and financial year (2018/19–2020/21) is provided in the following table.

To ask the Scottish Government what plans it has to run public awareness campaigns on deep vein thrombosis (DVT), and when the last public awareness campaign on DVT took place.

The Scottish Government has no current plans to run public awareness campaigns on deep vein thrombosis (DVT), and there has been no public awareness campaign on DVT by the Scottish Government since 2011.

The Scottish Government carries out a regular planning process to identify which topics may require support from marketing activity, including public awareness campaigns.

To ask the Scottish Government how many death certificates recorded aspergillus infection as the (a) primary and (b) secondary cause of death of patients at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, in each year since the hospital opened.

Ministers are not notified of every patient death by suspected hospital acquired infection, due to the possibility of patient identifiable information.

However, Ministers are routinely notified of incidents of hospital infection outbreaks (involving two or more patients) with management information regarding the organism of infection, number of patients involved in the outbreak, investigations and any suspected deaths associated with the outbreak.

To ask the Scottish Government which venues or events it is considering including in any future expanded use of the NHS Scotland COVID Status App.

The First Minister updated Parliament on 23 November confirming that people attending venues or events covered by the Covid Certification scheme now have the option of providing either a record of their recent negative test, or vaccination. This change will came into effect from Monday 6 December. No further changes to the scope of the scheme are proposed at this stage but this is kept under review.

Decisions are taken, and reviewed on the latest data and clinical evidence. Our review process includes consideration of the impact assessments, including the Business and Regulatory Impact Assessment.

To ask the Scottish Government whether the NHS Scotland COVID Status App has been updated on Android, Apple and other app stores in order to prevent potential screenshotting.

The NHS Scotland Covid Status App was updated on 26 October (to version 2.1.0) to disable the ability to take a screenshot on Android devices. This cannot be achieved in the same way directly via Apple iOS without disabling the app as a whole, so is therefore not disabled for Apple devices. However, the shimmer feature on the app can immediately alert someone who is visually checking Covid status apps if it genuine or if a screen shot.

Information on cataract procedures is set out in the acute hospital publication available through the link below. However, this does not cover the full time period requested as the latest publication shows procedures during the 2020-21 financial year. Information on the other conditions you have asked about is not held centrally.

To ask the Scottish Government what data it holds on the waiting times for ophthalmology care in (a) an outpatient setting and (b) day cases, in each NHS board area from (i) 1 April 2020 to 31 March 2021 and (ii) 1 April to 25 November 2021.

The link below leads to the latest elective waiting times publication which was published on Tuesday 30 November for the quarter ending 30 Sep 2021. This provides number of patients waiting and seen by specialty for outpatients and inpatient / day cases.

The split between inpatient and day case is not published. in addition, this publication only covers details up to the end of September 2021, with the information on the quarter ending 31 December 2021 due to be published at the end of February.
