Questions and answers

Parliamentary questions can be asked by any MSP to the Scottish Government or the Scottish Parliamentary Corporate Body. The questions provide a means for MSPs to get factual and statistical information.

  • Written questions must be answered within 10 working days (20 working days during recess)
  • Other questions such as Topical, Portfolio, General and First Minister's Question Times are taken in the Chamber

To ask the Scottish Government, based on ratings used in the School Estate Statistics, what proportion of pupils have been educated in schools in (a) good, (b) satisfactory, (c) poor and (d) bad condition in each of the last five years, broken down by local authority area.

To ask the Scottish Government what action it is taking to (a) reduce Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) waiting lists and (b) increase the number of consultants in mental health services, in light of reported recent figures showing 1,417 children and 525 adults have been on the CAMHS waiting list for over 18 months and warnings from the Royal College of Psychiatrists of a "perfect storm brewing".

To ask the Scottish Government, further to the answer to question S6W-08565 by Humza Yousaf on 1 June 2022, which states that 124 affected families had been contacted directly by NHS Lothian and offered a retest by that point, how many (a) families had been contacted directly by NHS Lothian and offered a retest of their child, (b) affected children had had a retest of their hearing or other appropriate audiological intervention, (c) affected children had an appointment but had not been seen and (d) affected children had been found to have a previously unidentified or misidentified hearing impairment as a result of having had a retest of their hearing, by 1 November 2022.

To ask the Scottish Government how many press releases were issued by NHS Lothian that were intended to inform families about the measures that had been put in place to encourage and support families to seek a retest if they had concerns about a child’s hearing, as a result of the failings in NHS Lothian paediatric audiology care identified by the British Academy of Audiology, between (a) December 2021 and February 2022, (b) March and May 2022, (c) June and August 2022 and (d) September and October 2022.
