To ask the Scottish Government what specific outcomes or targets it seeks to achieve from running its Brush Up campaign.
Answer
The Brush Up campaign has been developed to raise awareness of changes to NHS dentistry from 1 November, and to assure patients that they will still be able to access a full range of treatment on the NHS.
In particular the campaign directs patients to updated NHS Inform webpages which set out key information in relation to NHS dental treatment in Scotland. This includes a plain English explanation of the changes to examination frequency, noting these are now determined with respect to individual risk factors; entitlements to exemptions; and information on accessing a dentist.

To ask the Scottish Government what action it is taking to prevent the closure of Turning Point 218 due to a lack of funding from Glasgow City Council, with the loss of eight residential beds for women with a criminal justice background and complex needs, including substance use, in light of reported concerns that this may result in lives being lost and skilled workers being made redundant during its declared public health emergency regarding substance-use-related deaths.
Answer
Decisions about the provision and commissioning of individual community justice services, including any re-tendering exercises, are a matter for local authorities based on local needs. The Scottish Government has continued to invest around £134 million in community justice services this year, including providing around £123 million to local authorities, and has not asked local authorities to reduce any specific funding within that.
We understand that Glasgow City Council are working closely with Turning Point Scotland to support those currently using the service. The Council has also provided reassurances that other relevant services and approaches are available to support people with similar needs following the anticipated closure of the service.
These include residential placements in addiction services, the trauma-informed Tomorrow’s Women Glasgow service and the use of women-only drug courts and problem-solving courts, and the Lilias Centre Community Custody Unit.

To ask the Scottish Government what its response is to the findings of the Nurofen report, Gender Pain Gap: Index Report: Year 2, published in November 2023, including the finding that the gender pain gap has widened since the previous report, from 7% to 11%.

To ask the Scottish Government whether it defines multi-year funding for voluntary sector organisations as a three-year minimum commitment.
Answer
In line with our Fairer Funding commitment to embed a multi-year grant approach on all third sector grants by 2026, the First Minister has committed to increasing the number of two-year grants in the forthcoming budget, and longer where possible.
It must be recognised that whilst we would wish to go further we face significant economic uncertainty and it would be wrong to make commitments we cannot sustain.

To ask the Scottish Government what assessment it has made of the number of any (a) NHS nursing staff and (b) allied health professionals who have left the NHS workforce to work in the private health care sector in the last financial year.
Answer
We understand there is a role for private healthcare in delivering planned care however, the Scottish Government is absolutely committed to keeping our NHS true to its founding principles and providing the best value for the people in Scotland. We have invested in nursing and midwifery staffing, which already at a record high has increased further by 1.6% from September 2022 to 65,269.8 WTE. The Allied Health Professional workforce (excluding paramedics) has seen similar growth to 11,857.7 WTE in September 2023, representing a 3.6% increase since last year.
The Scottish Government does not hold information about the number of NHS Scotland staff who may have left their position to take up alternative employment in the private healthcare sector.

To ask the Scottish Government whether the location of manufacturing of advanced medicines or medicinal products is taken into account in the NHS Scotland procurement process.
Answer
Procurements that are subject to the application of international trade rules are governed by general principles of non-discrimination, equal treatment, transparency and proportionality. To require that the location of manufacturing of advanced medicines or medicinal products is taken into account would need to have a very clear justification.
