Questions and answers

Parliamentary questions can be asked by any MSP to the Scottish Government or the Scottish Parliamentary Corporate Body. The questions provide a means for MSPs to get factual and statistical information.

  • Written questions must be answered within 10 working days (20 working days during recess)
  • Other questions such as Topical, Portfolio, General and First Minister's Question Times are taken in the Chamber

To ask the Scottish Government what its response is to the reported call from UK campaign group, Wild Justice, to (a) return Brodifacoum to its pre-April 2016 approval status, so that it can be used in strict "internal areas" within buildings, and (b) limit its use to professional pest control companies.

To ask the Scottish Government, in light of the new duties on employers under the Worker Protection (Amendment of Equality Act 2010) Act 2023 regarding the prevention of sexual harassment of staff, how ScotRail is meeting its duty to take reasonable steps to prevent its employees from being subject to such harassment, including from third parties; whether it has asked ScotRail to (a) update its anti-harassment policies and (b) produce an updated risk assessment, and what its position is on whether ScotRail’s reported plans to reduce ticket office opening hours at 101 stations is compatible with the new duties.

To ask the Scottish Government what the estimated capital cost is of permanently replacing the M8 Woodside Viaducts with a surface level dual carriageway; whether this could be partly funded by high-density commercial development of any surplus land released adjacent to a new road, and how this option compares with the cost of continually repairing the existing viaducts.
