Membership of the workforce short life working group established by the Managed Service Network for Children and Young People with Cancer (MSN CYPC), includes representatives from the MSN CYPC, Scottish Cancer Network, Scottish Government, NHS Tayside (Finance; HR; Health and Staffside representative) NHS National Services Scotland (Scottish Cancer Network; HR) and The Teenage Cancer Trust.

The Scottish Government expects all NHS healthcare workers in Scotland to follow best practice when providing care for people with UTIs, including recurring UTIs. In support of this, guidelines on management of suspected UTIs were developed by the Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network (SIGN) in 2020 and remain current. These support clinicians to provide advice to patients and carers on appropriate treatment, risks and lifestyle and behaviour issues which can support management and prevention of UTIs.

As part of our £70m Endoscopy and Urology Diagnostic Recovery and Renewal plan, national urology referral and management pathways for UTIs in adults, which includes recurrent UTIs, were published in August 2021 supporting clinicians to make the appropriate referrals for UTIs at the right time.

The rights of responsible non-motorised access to land established through Part 1 of the Land Reform (Scotland) Act 2003 mean that access to local outdoor spaces, such as forests, should normally be free of charge.

There is a very limited range of circumstances where charges for access can be applied, for example where specific byelaws have been introduced. However, land managers may raise revenue through service provision such as car parking and toilets.

Scottish Government have not transferred any documents to the National Records of Scotland for archive since the resignation of Nicola Sturgeon as First Minister.

Our key priority throughout the stocks and negotiations is always to protect Scottish interests by securing sustainable catching opportunities.

Bluefin tuna quota is allocated to the UK via International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas (ICCAT) and for 2023 the UK Government intends to trial a small-scale commercial fishery for Bluefin tuna in UK waters with 39 tonnes set aside quota for this purpose. All UK vessels, including the Scottish fishing fleet, will be able to apply for the trial this year.

My officials have been fully involved in discussions within the UK to ensure that, upon the opening of the application process, applicants will be assessed in a fair and transparent manner to select who will be issued with one of the 10 Bluefin tuna licences. Each licence will regulate the maximum quota which may be fished for the period of the 2023 trial, and which will also be non-transferrable. Under this scheme, Bluefin tuna quota is therefore currently managed at a UK level, rather than being apportioned between UK Fisheries Administrations.

Prior to the commencement of the trial, it is essential that a precautionary management approach is fully developed to ensure that Bluefin tuna fishing is sustainable, and that vessels are fully compliant with all relevant measures.

NHS Tayside cancer services are currently operating at a stable level with mutual aid from other Health Boards for Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapies for breast cancer. The health board continues to pursue all recruitment opportunities and positive discussions are ongoing about possible future appointments.

Scotland’s Heat Network Fund (SHNF) provides funding for primary and secondary heat network infrastructure. This includes projects that utilise waste heat from existing incineration plants to provide low carbon, affordable heat to local consumers. Under the scheme, £5.6 million was committed in August 2022 to the extension of the Torry Heat Network which uses waste heat from an energy from waste plant. The Low Carbon Infrastructure Transition Programme (LCITP) awarded £5.78m for Phase 1 in November 2020.

LCITP awarded £7.3m in January 2020 to Midlothian Council to build a heat network using waste heat from the Millerhill incineration plant.

SHNF is focused on the construction of heat networks and doesn’t cover the installation of electricity generation equipment.
