That the Parliament congratulates Marie Whalen on her 34-year-long career as a midwife at the Vale of Leven Community Midwifery Unit in which time she helped deliver hundreds of babies; notes that Marie was the senior charge midwife at the Alexandria hospital’s maternity unit and led the unit’s team of 14 midwives, three health care support workers and two gynaecology nurses at the Vale; understands that she marked her retirement by safely delivering a colleague and former trainee, Robyn Richardson’s baby; acknowledges that, as well as welcoming babies into the world, the experienced and much-loved midwife has been integral to training future midwives; thanks Marie for her service, and wishes her well in her retirement.
