  • Date lodged: Monday, 01 November 2021
  • Motion reference: S6M-01836

That the Parliament congratulates Swannay Brewery in Orkney on winning three awards at this year's Society of Independent Brewers (SIBA) Scotland competition; notes that Swannay Brewery's Orkney IPA won the gold award for the cask premium PAs category, Scapa Special won silver for the cask British bitter category and Island Hopping won bronze for the cask session IPA category; understands that Orkney IPA will now move forward to the UK-wide SIBA competition to be held in March 2022, and that the latest awards take Swannay Brewery's haul of national and international accolades to well over 150, since brewing started in 2006; further understands that the home-grown brewery, located on the north-westerly tip of the Orkney Mainland, creates a range of craft beers and exports to a growing national and international market, with expansions to their farmstead brewery currently underway; congratulates the founder, Rob Hill, general manager, Lewis Hill, and the whole team at the Swannay Brewery, on their latest success, and wishes them all the very best for the future.
