Keep Active Travel Open for COP26

  • Submitted by: Patrick Harvie, Glasgow, Scottish Green Party.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 31 August 2021
  • Motion reference: S6M-00970

That the Parliament welcomes the work of GoBike Strathclyde Cycle Campaign, and other active travel campaigners, on highlighting the threat of closures of key active travel routes in the city during COP26; acknowledges that campaigners are working hard to develop solutions that allow safe, traffic-free routes for everyone who walks, wheels and cycles; understands the success of providing quick, temporary, traffic-free routes as part of the Spaces for People initiative; believes that as the host city, Glasgow has a responsibility to provide safe, green forms of transport for visitors and citizens, and urges the local authority to respond positively to the campaign for safe active travel routes.
