Gold Medal Success for Kathleen Dawson

That the Parliament recognises the remarkable achievements of the Kirkcaldy-born Olympic swimmer, Kathleen Dawson, in winning gold in the inaugural mixed medley relay at the Tokyo Olympics; notes that 23-year-old Kathleen and her teammates, Adam Peaty, James Guy and Freya Anderson, achieved a new world record time, finishing two seconds ahead of the other teams, and highlights that Kathleen’s first experience of swimming was in her birth town of Kirkcaldy at the local swimming pool, which kickstarted a swimming career that includes holding the British and European 100m backstroke record, British record for 50m backstroke and reaching the Olympic 100m backstroke final, in addition to her gold medal.
