That the Parliament notes that John Gilfillan, who is a funeral director from Cardenden, has been awarded the BEM in the New Year Honours for his services to bereaved people and the community of Benarty; acknowledges that John received particular praise for providing his services to ex-service personnel either for free or at a reduced price; applauds him for his compassion and community-mindedness; notes that he also organises and performs at Burns' Suppers for free at sheltered housing complexes, takes an active part in the Benarty Children's Gala day and regularly contributes to community sports clubs and organisations; believes that this is a well-deserved accolade, and wishes John continued success.
