Renewable Transition Training Fund

That the Parliament welcomes the results of a study commissioned by Scottish Renewables, which highlights that 80% of Scottish oil and gas workers have considered that their careers could be impacted by actions being taken to tackle climate change; understands that 77% of oil and gas workers surveyed were positive about the opportunity to retrain to join the renewable energy industry, and that 86% of those surveyed would welcome Scottish Government support to assist their transition to employment within the renewable energy sector, and calls on the Scottish Government to support a Renewable Transition Training Fund to increase opportunities for oil and gas workers and those in the supply chain to access employment and business opportunities in the renewable energy industry and acquire the sustainable skills that Scotland needs for a green recovery.
