Sunday Dinner Boxes

  • Submitted by: Neil Findlay, Lothian, Scottish Labour.
  • Date lodged: Friday, 31 January 2020
  • Motion reference: S5M-20688

That the Parliament commends the work of Anne Wilson from Winchburgh, who has set up a West Lothian Sunday Dinner Box scheme; notes that the scheme was established to help struggling families in the area to access a substantial Sunday dinner; acknowledges that Anne initiated the scheme as she recognised the importance of Sunday dinner for spending time with friends, family and loved ones over a home-cooked meal; notes that, since the scheme started on 11 January 2020, Anne has delivered 21 Sunday dinner boxes, and has another 40 requests; recognises that this project is solely supported by donations; is concerned that the initiative is indicative of a society with growing levels of poverty and inequality, and thanks Anne for showing the compassion and determination to assist the most vulnerable people in her local area.
