European Union (Withdrawal Agreement) Bill

  • Submitted by: Nicola Sturgeon, Glasgow Southside, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 22 October 2019
  • Motion reference: S5M-19529

That the Parliament rejects the revised withdrawal agreement and political declaration agreed between the UK Government and the European Union on 17 October 2019; notes the letter from the Prime Minister to the President of the European Council requesting an extension to the Article 50 period; agrees that such an extension would enable proper parliamentary scrutiny of the proposed deal and would allow for a general election and a new public vote with the option to remain to take place; calls on the UK Government to take immediate steps to secure the rights of EU nationals living in the UK regardless of the passage of the European Union (Withdrawal Agreement) Bill; notes the legislative consent memorandum on the European Union (Withdrawal Agreement) Bill lodged by the Scottish Government on 22 October 2019, and does not consent to that Bill.
