That the Parliament congratulates the Lord Provost of Aberdeen, Barney Crockett, on being elected as the President of the World Energy Cities Partnership (WECP) at the organisation’s AGM in Aberdeen on 7 September 2019; understands that the WECP was established in 1995 and connects 20 of the world’s leading energy capitals, including Aberdeen, by promoting collaboration in energy-related activities, with a particular focus on sustainability, education and innovation; recognises that this year’s conference was an opportunity to showcase the pioneering energy activities in the Aberdeen City Region, and believes that the appointment of Barney as the President of the WECP will increase Aberdeen’s profile as one of the most significant energy cities in the world and provide it with the opportunity to lead the energy transition on a global scale.
