Julia Lorrain-Smith MBE

That the Parliament congratulates Julia Lorrain-Smith, who is from Gorebridge, on being appointed an MBE in The Queen’s Birthday Honours List for her services to the children’s hearings system and the local community; understands that Julia has been involved with the Children’s Panel, which makes decisions in children’s hearings regarding support for young offenders and children requiring care and protection, for over 40 years; notes that Julia has been Depute Lord Lieutenant for Midlothian for 20 years and has also held the position of chair of the Lothians branch of the Royal Highland Educational Trust, which organises trips to farms to help children learn about where their food comes from; thanks Julia for her many years of service to these valuable organisations, and wishes her all the best for the future.
