Deena Wren Wins Learning Professional Award

That the Parliament congratulates the Beeslack Community High School librarian, Deena Wren, on winning the Learning Professional Award at the Scottish Book Trust Awards; understands that the award recognises Deena’s 20 years of work as a librarian as well as her strong commitment to encouraging children to read though her creation of the "Read for the Future Programme"; notes that the programme promotes reading for pleasure and, after reading a book, children are encouraged to present a report to either their teachers or parents, and that over 60% of S1 students have completed six reports or more; acknowledges Deena’s valuable contribution to the school as a member of the senior management team, and thanks her for her efforts in encouraging reading.
