That the Parliament regrets the current funding cut reportedly facing South Lanarkshire Council in the Scottish Government’s draft Budget; notes the comments of Councillor John Ross, leader of South Lanarkshire Council, who, in the Rutherglen Reformer on 2 January 2019, said that the council is facing cuts of £13 million and that he predicts that this “means more tough choices”, further notes the finance secretary's reported comments that councils will “have choices to make” and have to “make efficiencies”; understands that COSLA has stated that core local government services are “crumbling” and that local authorities across Scotland are facing significant budget cuts, and calls on the Scottish Government to halt what it considers these cuts to councils.
