That the Parliament welcomes the launch by the Scottish SPCA of the album, Paws. Play. Relax.; understands that all of the tracks on it are the result of scientific research between the charity and the University of Glasgow, which suggests that music can help dogs to relax when they are stressed and anxious; acknowledges that the studies found that reggae and soft rock in particular appeared to reduce the levels of dogs' stress hormones, increase cardiovascular control and calm behaviour, but that the animals become bored if they listen to the same music continually; notes that the songs on the album were written and produced by John McLaughlin, who is well-known for writing for artists such as Rod Stewart, Westlife and Sandi Thom, and performed by up-and-coming British musicians; believe that it will be beneficial for dogs that are being re-homed, being kept in the charity's centres or that get anxious because of events such as fireworks displays, and wishes the Scottish SPCA continued success in its endeavours to improve the livelihoods of animals across Scotland, including pet dogs.
