  • Motion reference: S5M-13428

That the Parliament congratulates the Scottish Borders Pipe Band, which won first place in grade 3b at the Scottish Pipe Band Championships in Dumbarton on 28 July 2018; notes that the 17-strong band saw off competition from nine others to win first place in piping and second paces in both drumming and for its march, Strathspey and reel performance; recognises that it is building on its previous successes, including a fifth place at the British championships and being named grade 4a world champions in in 2011 and grade 3b Scottish champions in 2012; understands that it was formed by members of Stow and Hawick bands along with members of the Galashiels Ex-Service Pipeband and Melrose and District Pipes and Drums; notes that the players represent the Scottish Borders in competitions only while also appearing with other bands at their traditional "aye been'" engagements, and wishes the band all the best as it prepares for the world championships in August.
