That the Parliament congratulates all the winners and nominees at 2018’s Learning Disability Awards, held on 18 May as part of Learning Disability Week; understands that the awards, which are organised by Scottish Commission for Learning Disability, were created in 2017 in order to highlight the varied achievements of people with learning disabilities, and to reflect the range of ways in which they are succeeding in sports, education and the workplace, as well as in their communities; acknowledges that there were 176 nominees this year in eight categories, recognising sporting achievement, creative talent, community champions, enterprise, skills and learning and three awards for those who support people with learning disabilities to achieve all that they can; recognises that nominees and finalists came from across Scotland, including the Lifeskills Plus students from Dundee and Angus College, who were highly commended in the Enterprise category, William Rae from Aberdeen, who was highly commended in the Community Champion category, and HD Training, part of Aberdeenshire Health and Social Care Partnership, which won the award for Skills and Learning; commends all those who were nominated for these prestigious awards, and looks forward to many future events recognising and celebrating the contribution that people with learning disabilities make to their communities.
