That the Parliament congratulates Melrose Rugby Club on being announced as one of six Scottish Rugby Union franchises that will compete in the new Super 6 competition when it starts in 2019-20, playing alongside Stirling County, Heriots, Watsonians, Ayr and Boroughmuir; understands that the new competition hopes to create a stronger level of rugby that will help to bridge the gap between the club and professional game, and further congratulates Melrose on securing the league and cup double title following its Scottish Cup victory at BT Murrayfield, which is the first time that the club has won both competitions since 1997 and the second consecutive year it has won the Scottish Cup.
