Community Food Connection Scheme in West Lothian

  • Submitted by: Neil Findlay, Lothian, Scottish Labour.
  • Date lodged: Monday, 23 April 2018
  • Motion reference: S5M-11797

That the Parliament commends Tesco and Fareshare on running the Community Food Connection Scheme, which facilitates the redistribution of thousands of meals to community groups, schools and charities in the UK each week; understands that there is currently extra food available to be redistributed in West Lothian, including fruit, vegetables, bakery products and chilled food; notes that groups registered with the scheme are given scheduled collection days and are notified by text message when the items are ready to collect from their nearest store, and encourages community groups to take part in the scheme.
