Scottish Borders Breweries in Aldi's Beer Festival

  • Submitted by: Michelle Ballantyne, South Scotland, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 13 March 2018
  • Motion reference: S5M-10977

That the Parliament recognises that Traquair House Brewery, Broughton Brewery and Tempest Brewing Co will all feature in Aldi’s 14th Scottish Beer Festival; understands that the breweries were selected for being among the finest in the country; notes that the breweries involved are in line for a share of a £114,000 windfall as part of the supermarket's festival, which it understands has generated more than £1.9 million of sales, supporting Scottish craft breweries since 2012; further notes the swift growth of the brewing industry in the Scottish Borders and the international acclaim that Borders’ beers have enjoyed, and wishes all these firms continued success in the future.
