That the Parliament congratulates the citizens of Bo’ness on holding The Best Day of the Year, which was the Bo’ness Fair that took place on 30 June 2017; recognises that the fair, in its current format, was first launched 120 years ago in 1897 by the then Provost, George Cadell Stewart, and has been held every year since, with the exception of the years of the First and Second World Wars and the industrial depressions of 1921 and 1926; understands that the Bo’ness Fair is the largest and most popular event of its type across the UK; notes the exceptional effort put in by the fair committee, which is chaired by Scott McBride, in organising such a fantastic event; recognises Bo’ness Public School for providing this year’s fair characters, including Queen Andrea Robertson, Chief Lady in Waiting Reese McBlain, Champion Lauchlan Muir and Chief Lord in Waiting Cole Reid, and all other Bo’ness schools for providing Bower Girls, Ladies in Waiting, Fairies, Flowergirls, Guards of Honour and Presentees to the retinue for the day; commends local councillor and community champion, Ann Ritchie, for her role in crowning this year’s Fair Day Queen; congratulates Bo’ness on its fantastic community spirit on the day and all year round, and looks forward to The Best Day of the Year coming around again in 2018.
