  • Submitted by: Ross Thomson, North East Scotland, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.

  • Motion reference: S5M-02703

That the Parliament welcomes announcement in the 2016 Autumn Statement of significant UK Government support for one of Aberdeen’s landmark buildings; recognises that the Hall of Remembrance is a focal point for the annual Remembrance Day parade in Aberdeen, in which all of those who served in the military are honoured; hopes that more visitors can be encouraged through the doors after the £33 million refurbishment of Aberdeen Art Gallery, which includes sympathetic upgrade work to the Hall of Remembrance as well as the Cowdray Hall, and welcomes the Chancellor of the Exchequer's announcement of £1.5 million support, which will further help the ongoing fundraising efforts for the project to transform the city's cultural offering for years to come.
