That the Parliament acknowledges the exhibition by Orkney-based artist, Robert Downes, which is showcased in St Magnus Cathedral to mark Holocaust Memorial Day on 27 January 2026; understands that this installation displays powerful portraits of 100 Auschwitz victims, including Jewish people, Roma and Sinti people, LGBTQ+ people, people with disabilities, artists and activists, who faced horrific torture and death at the hands of a deeply fascist regime; further understands that Robert Downes began creating these portraits a year ago on the 80th anniversary of the liberation at Auschwitz; recognises that this exhibition aims to remind the public of its shared responsibility in taking action to ensure such terrible crimes never ever happen again; thanks Robert Downes and everyone at St Magnus Cathedral for putting on such a deeply moving exhibition, and encourages the Orkney public to show its support.
