That the Parliament congratulates Martin Christie from Kirkcaldy on his outstanding award of Volunteer of the Year at the Sportscotland Scottish Sports Awards 2025; commends Martin's incredible 20-year history of volunteering and the many leadership roles that he has undertaken with golf clubs in the area; notes that Martin has a 32-year membership in golf clubs and, in partnership with the Fife Golf Trust, Martin developed a new six-hole golf course; appreciates that, in 2020, Martin established the charity, Dunnikier Park Community Golf, with a focus on accessibility and inclusion, engaging all members of the community, regardless of age or ability, to take part in a wonderful activity that not only strengthens their physical health, but provides positive emotional health and wellbeing; acclaims Martin's pioneering work in introducing Park Golf in Scotland; understands that the course in Dunnikier is the first of its kind in the UK, and applauds the scope of Martin's commitment to facilitating a workable model for changing people's lives through golf, including at schools, care homes, Alzheimer Scotland, the Salvation Army, Young Carers, EasyP, Step by Step, Sporting Memories, Phoenix Futures, The Fairway, Nourish Support Centre and Autism Scotland, with over 1,000 games played in 2025.
