That the Parliament recognises what it sees as the importance of the 80th anniversaries of Victory in Europe (VE) Day and Victory over Japan (VJ) Day; notes the debt of gratitude owed to the men and women who fought for their country and the sacrifices that they made, some tragically not making it home; further notes the profound impact of the wars, not only in Britain, but across the world; acknowledges the sacrifices made on a daily basis by the Armed Forces and thanks them and Scotland's veterans for their service to the country; believes that it is vital that their brave contributions should never be forgotten, and commends the Scottish Government for its engagement with local communities in commemorative activities for the 80th anniversaries.
