That the Parliament congratulates Shetland athletes from the men’s football and the women’s hockey teams for their victories over their Orkney counterparts at the annual Senior Inter-County competition held in Orkney on 27 July 2024; understands that the men’s team won their match by 2-1 in extra time to win the Milne Cup for the third consecutive year and that the women beat Orkney 4-2 on penalties to win the Lady Hamilton Cup, the first win on Orkney soil since 1982; congratulates Finn Regan and Lewis Harkness on scoring for the football team and Megan Hibbert for scoring the winning penalty in the hockey match; commends the work of all the athletes, coaches and supporters from both Shetland and Orkney; pays tribute to the work of the sporting organisations in the Northern Isles, and all who make the competition possible, and looks forward to next year’s Inter-County in Shetland
