That the Parliament congratulates North Berwick, in East Lothian, on being named the overall UK winner for best place to live in the UK by The Sunday Times Best Place to Live Guide; notes that North Berwick is the first Scottish winner in the 12-year history of the Best Places to Live survey; understands that the town was picked for its combination of a great high street, a great school, the great outdoors and family-friendly houses; further understands that judges were impressed by its easy transport connections to Edinburgh and the way life revolves around the town’s two beaches as well as the wealth of activities available for all ages; acknowledges that judges highlighted the town’s thriving high street and its many independent shops as a sign of the positive effect that small businesses can have on a community; congratulates East Linton in East Lothian for being selected as area winners in the same survey, and further congratulates local residents, community groups and businesses from these towns for getting involved in their communities.
