Zara Flett Signed by Strathclyde Sirens

  • Submitted by: Liam McArthur, Orkney Islands, Scottish Liberal Democrats.
  • Date lodged: Monday, 11 September 2023
  • Motion reference: S6M-10381

That the Parliament congratulates Zara Flett, from Kirkwall, on being signed by the Strathclyde Sirens netball team; believes that Zara is a rising netball talent, having played for the Scotland under-21 team, as well as regularly representing Orkney at regional and national level; understands that, after being scouted and playing briefly for the Sirens in shortened Fast5 games, Zara was signed by Scotland’s sole professional netball team on the basis of her "incredible understanding of the game"; recognises that Zara has been described as an "exciting shooter"; understands that Zara will now compete in the elite-level Netball Superleague against teams from across the UK; considers that Zara’s success reflects her incredible talent and commitment, but also provides further evidence of the growing quality and success of netball in Orkney; wishes Zara every success with the Sirens, and looks forward to future success for Orkney netball.
