Coatbridge High School Students Create Their Own Little Miss and Mr Men Books

  • Submitted by: Fulton MacGregor, Coatbridge and Chryston, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 13 June 2023
  • Motion reference: S6M-09389

That the Parliament congratulates first year pupils from Coatbridge High School on creating their own Little Miss and Mr Men books; understands that their books were launched and judged at Waterstones on Sauchiehall Street, in Glasgow; acknowledges that the judges recognised that the standard was extremely high and that it was incredibly hard to select winners; believes that initiatives such as these, which encourage students to create their own books, can improve reading comprehension, engagement and enjoyment, and praises Coatbridge High School for subsequently being awarded a Silver Reading Accreditation by the Scottish Book Trust.
