Scapa Flow Museum Shortlisted for Museum of the Year

That the Parliament congratulates Scapa Flow Museum, Lyness, Hoy, on being shortlisted for the prestigious Art Fund's Museum of the Year award; notes that the museum charts Orkney's involvement in the First and Second World Wars, when Scapa Flow served as the UK's chief naval base; understands that the museum is home to nationally and internationally significant artefacts, and marks historic events, such as the 1919 scuttling of the German fleet; understands that the museum underwent a major £4.4 million redevelopment, completed in 2022, and was officially reopened by Sir Chris Hoy in April 2023; welcomes the Art Fund's recognition of Scapa Flow Museum, which is one of five finalists for the prize, and wishes Scapa Flow Museum all the very best when the winner is announced on 12 July 2023.
