That the Parliament recognises that the COVID-19 Social Care Staff Support Fund expired on 31 March 2023; understands that this fund provided essential cover for staff who had contracted or presented symptoms of COVID-19, and ensured that Scotland's most vulnerable were protected; believes that the fund should be continued indefinitely until a nationwide sick pay policy is implemented across the social care sector, and supports GMB Union’s calls for the Scottish Government to make the Social Care Support Fund permanent until the National Care Service is operational, and to then make full sick pay schemes obligatory for any employer who wishes to be part of the National Care Service.
