Belhaven Clinches Trio of Prizes

  • Submitted by: Craig Hoy, South Scotland, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Friday, 05 May 2023
  • Motion reference: S6M-08798

That the Parliament congratulates Scotland’s oldest working brewery, Belhaven, which has been in operation since 1719, on its success at the prestigious Monde Selection 2023 where it won a trio of prizes; understands that the brewery received gold for its Belhaven Scottish Oat Stout and Belhaven Wee Heavy, and a silver for its Belhaven Scottish Ale; notes that there was further cause to celebrate for the brewery with news that the brewery’s visitor experience has been given four-star quality assurance status by VisitScotland; believes that this reflects an excellent customer experience in the eyes of its expert tourism assessors; considers that VisitScotland’s Quality Assurance scheme represents world-class excellence, helping businesses to shine, enabling visitors to make informed choices and driving up investment in quality, and believes that, since the visitor attraction opened in 2021 offering people the chance to find out about the "home of Scottish brewing", it has been a fantastic addition to the tourism offering in Dunbar and East Lothian.
