Random Acts of Kindness by Young People from Garelochhead’s Route 81 Project

That the Parliament congratulates young people from Garelochhead’s Route 81 project for spreading cheer before Christmas with random acts of kindness; notes that 34 members of the community received a hand-made Christmas tealight gift as part of a five-week project called Slanj, following on from a similar scheme for Christmas 2021 called Bottle of Hope in which 48 local people received a light bottle from the youngsters; understands that the project was funded by The Arts Society Lomond and Argyll (TASLA), and delivered in partnership with the Lochside Churches’ family worker, Rhona Knight; believes that the main focus of the initiative was on being kind to others, and encouraging and promoting positive mental health, which came about after one of the centre’s youth workers shared a story about receiving a Christmas cake at her door almost 30 years ago, which positively impacted on her mental health; thanks the young people for taking part, and looks forward to Christmas 2023’s project.
