  • Submitted by: Sue Webber, Lothian, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 11 January 2023
  • Motion reference: S6M-07445

That the Parliament commends the work of primary four pupils at Dean Park Primary in Balerno who have been developing community links between young people and senior citizens; understands that the children planned, organised and hosted an intergenerational Christmas coffee morning on 6 December 2022, with all three P4 classes involved in writing invitations to the residents of the local nursing home as well as the local church; believes that the event was a huge success with welcomed guests treated to a performance of Christmas songs from the children whilst enjoying some festive refreshments; acknowledges that the special community visitors were also gifted handmade paper wreaths and Christmas cards created by the children; praises the pupils for recognising the need to focus on the wellbeing of the older generations and the prevalence of loneliness, especially during the festive period, and wishes them all the best as they continue to develop this important community project.
