  • Motion reference: S6M-06013

That the Parliament congratulates Dr Pat Carragher from Auchtertool, who collected the legacy award at the 2022 WellChild Awards in London in recognition of his 26-year association with the Children’s Hospice Association Scotland (CHAS); notes that the WellChild Awards celebrates the inspirational qualities of the UK’s seriously ill children and young people, along with those who go that extra mile to make a difference to their lives; understands that Dr Carragher was selected from hundreds of nominees from across the UK to receive the prestigious award, and was put forward by his colleagues; further understands that during his time with CHAS, he was at the forefront of new and innovative ways of working, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic; considers that his determination to reach children with life-shortening conditions ensured that, despite the challenges presented by the pandemic, he and his team found ways to connect with families across Scotland; commends what it sees as his ability to inspire and encourage teams and to embrace new and innovative ways to deliver care by providing solid leadership, and wishes Dr Carragher all the best in his recent retirement.
