Glaitness Primary School Extension Opens

  • Submitted by: Liam McArthur, Orkney Islands, Scottish Liberal Democrats.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 06 September 2022
  • Motion reference: S6M-05828

That the Parliament welcomes the opening of the new nursery extension at Glaitness Primary School in Kirkwall, Orkney, on 30 August 2022; understands that the £1.5 million extension, funded by Orkney Islands Council, will provide additional nursery accommodation and has been completed ahead of contractual deadlines and in time for the new term; commends Orkney Builders (Contractors) Ltd for what it sees as its collaborative and integrated approach to the project by minimising disruption to learning and involving the local pupils through site visits, practical STEM sessions in the classroom and displaying their safety posters around the school; believes that the extension will make a huge difference in allowing for the expansion of early leaning and childcare in Kirkwall with both improved indoor and outdoor facilities, and wishes the whole school community all the very best for the future.
