Questions and answers

Parliamentary questions can be asked by any MSP to the Scottish Government or the Scottish Parliamentary Corporate Body. The questions provide a means for MSPs to get factual and statistical information.

  • Written questions must be answered within 10 working days (20 working days during recess)
  • Other questions such as Topical, Portfolio, General and First Minister's Question Times are taken in the Chamber

To ask the Scottish Government whether it plans to fulfil the commitments in the Scottish National Party 2021 manifesto and subsequent Framework For Tax, and the recommendation of the Barclay review of non-domestic tax rates, to restore the level playing field with England for retail, hospitality, and leisure premises that are liable for the higher property rate.

To ask the Scottish Government whether it has assessed any potential reputational, economic or security risks associated with Scotland-based companies being involved in the transport of Russian liquefied natural gas following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, including vessels operated or managed by Seapeak, and, in light of any potential impact on Scotland's economy, what engagement it has had with the UK Government on the enforcement of sanctions and services prohibitions relating to Russia’s energy sector.

To ask the Scottish Government what its position is on (a) Food Standards Scotland’s guidance permitting the use of alcohol-free labelling on products containing up to 0.5% alcohol by volume (ABV), and whether this adequately protects consumers who are allergic to alcohol, and (b) Alcohol Focus Scotland’s calls for all alcohol substitutes and lower strength alcohol products to feature their ABV content plainly on the front-facing part of the label.
