Questions and answers

Parliamentary questions can be asked by any MSP to the Scottish Government or the Scottish Parliamentary Corporate Body. The questions provide a means for MSPs to get factual and statistical information.

  • Written questions must be answered within 10 working days (20 working days during recess)
  • Other questions such as Topical, Portfolio, General and First Minister's Question Times are taken in the Chamber

To ask the Scottish Government what its response is to the Scottish Retail Consortium’s suggestion in its Retail industry recommendations for the 2025-26 Scottish Budget paper, that following the 2014 Regulatory Reform Act, a Primary Authority system for devolved regulation should be introduced.

To ask the Scottish Government, in light of reported information from National Records of Scotland stating that, in the second quarter of 2024, Dumfries and Galloway had the highest stillbirth rate, perinatal death rate and extended perinatal death rate in Scotland, as well as one of the highest infant death rates and neonatal death rates in Scotland, whether it has any plans to launch an investigation into healthcare outcomes for expectant mothers and infants in Dumfries and Galloway.

To ask the Scottish Government, in light of them currently delivering a reported 80% of the annual deer cull, how it will ensure that the policy intention to establish deer management nature restoration orders under the proposed Natural Environment Bill will not adversely affect private deer managers, and what impact assessment it will carry out.
