There is clear guidance in place on prescribing and administering prescription medicine for healthcare professionals working in prisons and police custody settings. The gross media spend that the Scottish Government has spent on public health broadcasting campaigns from July 2022 to June 2023 is £1,606,708. Broadcasting campaigns are defined as those which have used Linear TV, Broadcast Video on Demand or Radio as part of their media schedule.

Scottish Government do not provide direct funding to STV as they are an advertiser funded broadcaster.

We do however provide funding to Screen Scotland who have themselves provided funding to STV Studios. STV Studios is separate to the broadcasting element of STV and is the television production arm of the STV Group plc. They work with a range of broadcasters and streamers, not only STV. All funding decisions of Screen Scotland are made independently of Scottish Government.

In addition, all Scottish Government media buying and planning is undertaken via agencies appointed through the Media Planning, Buying and Associated Services 2019 to 2023 framework. Therefore, this is not conducted directly with STV.

Under this Government, spending on additional support for learning has reached a record high of £830m in 2021-22 and the number of pupil support staff in Scotland has reached a record high of over 16,600. We have invested an additional £60m since 2019-20 (£15m per year) and provide over £11m of funding to directly support pupils with complex additional support needs and services to children and families.

The Additional Support for Learning Act places duties on education authorities to identify, provide for and review the additional support needs of their pupils. It is for individual authorities to determine the training required for all staff to ensure pupils reach their full potential and to manage their budgets accordingly.

All initial teacher education programmes must align with the General Teaching Council for Scotland’s Standard for Provisional Registration. The Standard sets out that student teachers are required to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of additional support needs and to take account of learners with such needs.
