Questions and answers

Parliamentary questions can be asked by any MSP to the Scottish Government or the Scottish Parliamentary Corporate Body. The questions provide a means for MSPs to get factual and statistical information.

Written questions must be answered within 10 working days (20 working days during recess)
Other questions such as Topical, Portfolio, General and First Minister's Question Times are taken in the Chamber

To ask the Scottish Government further to Nicola Sturgeon’s statement on 23 October 2012 (Official Report, c. 12406) regarding the commissioning of specific legal advice from the Law Officers on the position of an independent Scotland in the EU, on what other issues relating to independence it plans to commission such advice.

Paragraphs 2.30 – 2.35 of the Scottish Ministerial Code set out guidance on seeking specific legal advice from the Law Officers. I also refer the member to the answer to question S4W-10549 on 12 December 2012.
